QGenome App
Supporting healthcare professionals, including primary care, to embed genomics effectively and safely using the QGenome app.
Project Background
QGenome is an app-based clinical decision navigator for healthcare professionals which highlights the relevance of genomics at specific ‘decision points’ during a patient’s care, providing suggestions, in line with evidence-based best practice, as to when genomic testing may be necessary to guide clinical management and signposts to appropriate risk-reduction interventions. It aims to help busy clinicians bridge the overlap between common conditions and rare diseases and is available on iOS and Android devices and as a web app.
It is a ‘point of care’ tool for all clinicians working across primary, secondary and tertiary care offering readily-accessible, user-friendly, evidence-based clinical guidance and a streamlined time-efficient mechanism to highlight where genomic investigations and onward referrals may be necessary.
QGenome content covers Cancer Genomics and Primary Care guidance and is being expanded to encompass Cardiac, Renal, Midwifery/Prenatal and Neurology Genomic pathways in 2022/23. It is aligned to the NHSE genomic test directory, with quick links to genomic test request forms, record of discussion forms, national guidance and published literature and can be integrated into other systems, including those used in primary care like Emis, SystmOne and accuRx.
QGenome has been piloted by the South East GMSA across South East London, Surrey and Kent and is already providing a key infrastructure to support embedding genomics in primary care and mainstream specialities in these regions.
Project Overview
The North Thames GMS are working to pilot QGenome in our region, with the aim to capture data on its use, tailor content to our local region and subsequently roll out the tool across the country in 2023/24.
